Center of Excellence for Computational Drug Abuse Research - 2014CDAR center (www.CDARcenter.org) is a NIH NIDA-funded National Center of Excellence for Computational Drug Abuse Research (CDAR), a joint Big-Data and computational drug abuse research initiative between the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) and Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) under the leadership of Drs. Sean Xie, Ivet Bahar and Eric Xing. The goal of the CDAR Center is to advance state-of-the-art computational technologies and quantitative systems pharmacology to facilitate and enhance translational research in the area of drug abuse and addiction in collaboration with researchers/colleagues and their labs and centers both in the greater Pittsburgh area and nationwide.

Xie’s team is known for its pioneering research on development of “Big Data to Knowledge” GPU-accelerated diseases-specific chemogenomics knowledgebases and machine-/deep-learning algorithm TargetHunter platform for target identification and system pharmacology translational research. His work on Alzheimer’s disease database was the 2014 ACS JCIM coverpage story. He was also a recipient of 2014 AAPS Award for Outstanding Research Achievements.
